Written Procedures Manual

The Director of Safety and Security will make available to all departments a comprehensive safety manual of Maine Maritime Academy policies, programs, standards and best business practices. This manual will be updated periodically and will contain summaries of relevant laws and regulations, or interpretation and guidance as appropriate, and reference the underlying law or regulations by citation. The procedures manual will include Academy policies on safety glasses, personal flotation devices, safety shoes, hard hat areas, fall protection, hearing protection, as well as the laboratory safety standard, hazard communication program, chemical hygiene plan, and blood borne pathogens plan required by law. When in doubt or unsure whether the relevant policy addresses a particular safety issue, all staff, faculty and students should contact the Director of Safety and Security for guidance.
