In the event that there are insufficient numbers of Academy vehicles for a period of time in which a department wishes to make a trip, the department may rent a vehicle using either an Academy credit card or the standard purchasing process. The renting department will be responsible for all charges incurred and for complying with all regulations put forth by the rental company. Any time a vehicle is rented from a rental agency, the using department must purchase all available insurance coverage for the vehicle, however, in certain situations, long-term rentals may be covered under existing Academy vehicle insurance. All long-term rentals should be discussed with the Director of Public Works for selection of appropriate insurance coverage.
All regulations contained in this policy apply to rented and leased vehicles, as well as those owned by the Academy. It is the responsibility of the using department to notify Public Works when a vehicle is to be rented and to provide all of the required information in advance of departure.
Drivers for
rental vans; Each rental company has different age
requirements for rentals. Please make sure you are aware of
the age requirement prior to pickup date. The age
requirement will be strictly adhered to.
